Walking into journalism at Loretto, I never expected to learn the importance of using my voice around school.
Time really went by fast, becoming a senior writing stories for my school is something I will always cherish.
What started as a class quickly became a place where I felt understood, supported, and inspired every single day.
Between deadlines, interviews, brainstorming sessions, and stressful layout nights, we somehow turned hard work into memories and fun stories I’ll never forget.
The Prax was more than just a newspaper, it was a reflection of all of us. Every story carried pieces of our school, our voices, and our passion.
Being chosen as the Class Sections Editor opened many doors for me around campus, and allowed me to interact more with other grades and teachers, learning new things every day.
I’m so grateful to have shared this experience with such talented and hardworking people who made even the busiest moments fun.
I want to thank specifically to my editor in chief, Marifer Reyes, for always being so supportive and cooperative with me, and because I will be ending this chapter with her.
To my friends and fellow journalists, thank you for the laughs, the encouragement, the inside jokes, and for always showing up for one another.
Thank you to Mrs. Lockhart for believing in us, pushing us to do our best, and creating an environment where we felt comfortable being creative and ourselves, sorry no one aced a perfect score on a current event quiz, they were always fun though!
Journalism taught me so much more than writing. It taught me confidence, leadership, teamwork, and how powerful stories can be.
Even though this chapter is ending, the memories and friendships I gained from The Prax will stay with me forever.
Forever thankful,
This is Laura Olvera Escobar
