For freshman athlete Siane Benoit, success on the track did not happen overnight.
Competing in the triple jump, long jump, 100-meter dash, and 200-meter dash for Loretto Academy, she quickly became one of the team’s standout performers through hard work, dedication, and confidence built from years of competing in sports.
Despite being new to the high school level, Siane embraced the pressure of competition and used it as motivation throughout the season.
Her efforts earned her awards and recognition at the team banquet, where coaches and teammates celebrated the impact she made during her freshman year.
Siane believes much of her success comes from the lessons she has learned through participating in multiple sports.
Siane said, “I think that, like, the other sports I’m in has helped me to prepare and to gain the mindset that I’m competing for my school.”
Her support system and competitive mindset helped prepare her for one of the biggest moments of her season, qualifying for regionals as a freshman.
While many athletes would feel intimidated competing at such a high level for the first time, Siane stepped onto the stage determined to give her best effort.
Siane said, “I felt a little nervous when I went to regionals because I didn’t know what to expect since it was my first year,”
Although regionals brought new challenges and tougher competition, the experience became another important
milestone in her growing athletic career.
Making it that far as a freshman already demonstrated her talent, discipline, and ability to compete against some of the best athletes in the area.
Balancing four demanding track events while continuing to participate in other sports is not easy, but Siane has shown maturity and determination beyond her years.
Her willingness to push herself, support her teammates, and proudly represent Loretto Academy has already made her a respected athlete within the program.
With three more years ahead of her, Siane Benoit’s freshman season may only be the beginning of what promises to be an exciting future in athletics.
