Loretto Academy’s golf team made it all the way to regionals due to their successful season so far.
Regionals took place on April 25-28 at Luna Vista Golf Course in Dallas, Texas, where our angels competed against many fierce competitors.
Their biggest competition was the golfers from Ursaline.
However, in that same moment, their biggest competitor was themselves.
Regionals pushed the angels not only physically, but mentally.
During game time, their strategy was to not allow their thoughts to get in the way of the game.
Even when scoring a bad shot, the golfers are reminded by their team captain sophomore Zara Alvidrez, that there is always a clean slate for their next hill.
This team is currently being led by Coach Yvette Krohn and Jason Cadena who have passed down everything they know about the sport to their incredible athletes.
Moreover, they took home sixth place out of eleven teams.
As a result, the golf team was not only able to take home the win, but a stronger bond.
Team captain Zara Alvidrez said, “ I had so much fun being able to go and play a sport that I love with some of my closest friends. It’s like one amazing sleepover!”
One can undoubtedly see the strong bond between the girls through their performance on the course.
When competing, one can observe their words of encouragement that help each other remain calm during pressure filled shots.
Their immense support for each other is unlike no other which truly makes the Loretto golf team stand out amongst the other competitors.
