Loretto Academy began the 2025–2026 school year with several new additions and changes to campus life.
Welcoming new clubs, traditions, and creative ideas, the school introduced updates such as the cafeteria Coffee Corner, new student clubs, the Angel Buzz, food trucks, and Respect The Stripe Day.
Coffee Corner
The Coffee Corner opened in early October, giving students the chance to choose their favorite flavors, iced or hot.
It is located in the cafeteria and offers not only coffee but also a variety of pan dulce treats for sale.
The corner is open to all students and staff during break and lunch.
New clubs
This school year, Loretto also welcomed new clubs: American Sign Language (ASL) Club, Mock Trial Club, and Daughters of the Rosary.
Senior Addison Rosales founded the ASL Club, giving the school community a new, inclusive environment where students can learn sign language.
Addison said, “I opened this club because in my prior school I took ASL classes and I thought it would be a good idea for the girls to be more inclusive to all people.”
Club sponsor Ms. Franco said, “It is a good skill to have as a student.”
The Mock Trial Club, sponsored by Mr. Causey began this October, providing Loretto with another competition team.
Daughters of the Rosary club offers students a new way to pray the rosary and strengthen their relationship with God, sponsored by Sister Olive.
All these new clubs have given Loretto students more opportunities to get involved and find their place within the school community.
The Angel Buzz
In past years, Loretto’s announcements were delivered traditionally over the intercom.
This year, student body president Lucia Urrea and vice president Precious Pieri introduced a new, innovative approach: The Angel Buzz.
The Angel Buzz is a YouTube channel where the student council now livestreams daily announcements.

Lucia said, “We wanted to make announcements interactive and entertaining.”
Food trucks
Food trucks are another new addition to Loretto Academy traditions this year.
Which wouldn’t have been possible without the Assistant Dean, Mr. Dentiger’s idea of having students from two grade levels enjoy food from local vendors on certain days, offering a fun alternative to the regular cafeteria menu.
Mr. Dentiger said, “We wanted to change things and give a different and fun new scene to the girls.”
Respect The Stripe Day
This school year also introduced Respect The Stripe Day, a new tradition that allows students to show support for school teams.
On these days, students can wear a Loretto team shirt or a Field Day shirt, along with fun socks and tennis shoes.
Principal Mrs. Tovar and Dean of students Mrs. Martinez organized the day to encourage school spirit while giving students a small break from uniform rules.
Mrs. Martinez said, “We started this tradition because we wanted the girls to have a fun way to show school spirit and support the community, because that’s what our values as a school are.”
All these new additions have made the start of the 2025–2026 school year more engaging, active, and full of Loretto spirit.
