In the week of March 23, students at Loretto Academy took part in SHOUT Week, an event focused on Students helping out, participating in various exciting activities and working together to make a positive impact on the school and community.

Each day was a new activity planned by the Student Council and they also collected the money made from the events to donate to the Center Against Sexual and Family Violence.

Daily Activities

On Monday, slime kits and dirty sodas were sold for $5 to kick off this beloved tradition, a mix of crafts and fun drinks.

Then the next day on Tuesday was movie day with students selling aguas frescas and popcorn to eat and drink during the movie.

Different movies played throughout the day including fan favorites such as the Princess Diaries and High School Musical.

Participating students were able to go with their class and take a break from the long classes and homework with throwback movies.

Wednesday was a craft day, as students were able to paint their own canvases with different designs and colors.

The next day was Meditation and Comfy Attire Thursday, where students were able to purchase a bracelet for free dress.

There were also class meditation sessions to help students relieve stress and find a healthy way to release it.

This especially came to be useful as many students just got back from Spring Break.

As the week came to an end, SHOUT week concluded with an assembly on Friday in the gym with a presentation and the big reveal on how much money was collected.

Generous funds, big impact

Together, the school fundraised $1,800 to donate to the Center Against Sexual and Family Violence, an organization that has been supporting domestic violence and sexual assault survivors since 1977.

Also attending the assembly was guest speaker Victoria Olivia Isais, who spoke about the importance of saying no to sexual and family violence.

Author of Love Life and Life Will Love You Back: Defeating Rejection and founder of Queen Up Now, she is a powerful role model for women and girls across the globe, standing up for those who are afraid to speak up.

She got the students up on their feet and to stand up for others.

These fun activities and traditions remind the community how important it is to lend a helping hand to those in need and to work together despite differences.

The students have this iconic tradition so that they can donate the money to a good and powerful cause, coming full circle while also learning from new experiences and stories throughout the week.
