On Wednesday, April 1, 2026, Loretto Academy held its first Walking Rosary, an event held to pray for and stand with all immigrants facing mistreatment.
The Rosary was organized by Ms. Crow and senior Valeria Arellano, as well as a committee of students dedicated to its cause.
It began in front of the Chapel steps, the High School choir’s captivating voices greeting students as they joined the procession and as Ms. Crow said the introduction prayer.
The Rosary was composed of five stations located in different areas of the campus, each station led by students and focused on a different Catholic social teaching and testimony from an immigrant.
The stations were spread throughout campus in spiritual places, such as the Virgin Mary statue, the Jesus statue, the chapel steps, and the Crucifix statue.
Large student groups organized by classification moved from station to station, praying a decade of the rosary as they went.
After completing all five decades and stations, groups met back in the Chapel for the concluding prayer and student testimonies recounted by seniors Valeria Arellano and Juliana Puentes, and juniors Juliana Fierro and Ann Marie Franco.
Ms. Crow asked students to light the candles in their pews as they prayed for immigrants all over the world, that they might be treated as human beings with dignity, kindness, and respect.
The Walking Rosary was a joyous way to unite all students for a common cause and use the school’s foundation of faith to speak up for the immigrants, those who may not have a voice.
The peace felt on campus as students walked from station to station was indescribable.
The Walking Rosary not only strengthened the faith and peace uniting the Loretto community, but it reminded us all that we, too, can stand up for what we believe is right and make an impact within our community.
