Making waves: Loretto Swim Team regionals

The Loretto Academy swim team swam into the spotlight bringing second place at regionals on January 27th.

The swim regionals took place in San Antonio, Texas, where the angels made their mark with powerful strokes and podium finishes.

The team plans to take on State on February 10th, where they will be challenged with fiercely competitive athletes.

The coaches play a major role in the success of the team and inspire the swim athletes daily to strive for excellence in and out of the pool.

Under the leadership of Coach Zoë Housen, along with Alfonso Ruiz del Hoyo (Poncho), the swim team was able to grow faster, stronger, and more competitive than ever before.

Senior captain Laura Olvera-Escobar said, “They have inspired me to bring my positivity to every girl and to lead by example, encouraging the girls to unite.

With the team’s unity, one can notice the visibility of passion and determination for the sport, which has truly set them apart this season.

With their hard work, dedication, and the guidance of their coaches, the Loretto Academy swim team is ready to make a splash at state and continue their legacy of excellence.
