Cross country runner and junior Vivienne Colon recently led her team to state this season by placing 118th with a time of 16 minutes and 30 seconds out of over 130 girls from 26 different teams.
Vivienne began her cross country journey in her freshman year, where she discovered her love for the sport and running.
Vivienne said, “People assume it’s hard because you have to run three miles at practice, but it can actually be relaxing to get your mind off of things.”
She said, “It’s actually really fun to just run around Loretto.”
Not only this, but she finds enjoyment when it comes to spending quality time with her fellow teammates while running.
Whether it be track or cross country, Vivienne plans on continuing her running journey after she graduates in 2027.
Vivienne said, “I do want to continue cross country in the future.”
“I have been thinking about it and am taking steps toward that goal, like joining a program Mr. Nieto provides, visiting colleges, etc.”
“However, that also might include track with it because of the similarity if you’re looking towards long distance.”
From leading her team to state to continuing to push for her future goals, Vivienne truly embodies the spirit of Loretto Academy, earning her place as this month’s Angel in the Spotlight.
