Loretto Academy’s track team gears up for an exciting two days as they travel to Dallas, Texas for districts in April.
After a season filled with hard work and determination, the athletes with about 9 girls going to districts are ready to showcase their skills on the track.
As the team aims to bring home medals and pride for their school, the atmosphere is electric with anticipation by spirits and hopes being high.
Coach Joe, the head coach of the Loretto track team reminds the team of their goals, while teammates share laughs and encouragement.
The support the teams getting is strengthening the connection they’ve developed over the season.
This journey is more than just a competition, it’s a testament to their dedication and a chance to prove themselves.
Proving themselves against some of the best competitors in the region that they will go up against.
A freshman at Loretto Academy Scarlette Colón said, part of the track team who runs the 400 and a 4×400 said, “I think we’re very energetic and ready for the challenge, even if the other teams may be better we still keep our hopes up and out ready to do our best.”
As the team has approached Dallas, the excitement grows, and the team thinks about the sacrifices they’ve made.

Joanna Huizer, a junior at Loretto Academy, and a runner on Loretto’s track team running the 100m and 300m hurdles with a 4x200m relay said, “I’m very excited for the team to be competing out of town, it brings something fresh to the table allowing for us girls to see new competitors in a new perspective.”
With determination in their hearts and the support of their teammates, they step onto the track, ready to compete.
This district championship is not just about winning, it’s about the journey, the friendships forged, and the spirit of Loretto Academy shining brightly on and off the track.
