On Tuesday, January 27, 2025, Loretto Academy was thrilled to welcome esteemed pianist, music educator, and pillar of the Loretto community, Dr. Denine Leblanc, who took part in the high school choir performance and played the piano for all students.
The performance was a part of celebrating Catholic School’s week, a time where students, faculty, and staff of Catholic Schools around the United States are celebrated and united in the beauty of a Christ-centered education.
Dr. Denine’s touching performance in the chapel was a gift for all students to enjoy as she played piano pieces spanning multiple eras, from Baroque and Romantic to modern.
She told stories of great composers from each era and played their pieces with astounding precision and grace, amazing all students with their loveliness and evoking a sense of calm throughout the chapel.
High school music teacher Mr. Hernandez also sang a beautiful German tune that told of love and passion, the strength of his voice resonating.
After performing all of the songs, the floor was opened for students to ask questions about Dr. Denine’s life, world travels, and piano experience.
The performance was concluded with a fun mashup of Disney songs such as “Be Our Guest” and “You’ve Got a Friend in Me” sung by the high school choir, ending the assembly in a cheerful way.
Having the privilege of listening to Dr. Denine’s beautiful piano playing, Mr. Hernandez’s angelic voice, and the choir’s lovely singing was a perfect way to kick off Catholic Schools Week and bring a little positivity and joy into the busy lives of all Loretto students!
