High school students filled the gym on October 31 for the annual Halloween assembly. Entering through a creepy, haunted hallway, students were greeted with jump scares.

The competitions began with a food-eating challenge where two students from each grade sampled concoctions and guessed ingredients, which was then followed by a tedious mummy wrapping race.

Next, the show choir performed “I’m in Love with a Monster” and a spooky dance by Orchesis to “This is Halloween.”

The celebration concluded with costume contests that crowned seven girls dressed as pool balls as first-place winners, along with Madame as Sally from The Nightmare Before Christmas.

The assembly ended on a high note as Mrs.Cortez, the health teacher, who also instructs Orchesis and theater, was honored with the Teacher of the Year award.

The students’ enthusiastic participation and Mrs. Cortez’s recognition brought the Halloween assembly to a strong finish, showing Loretto Academy’s school spirit.
