On October 19th, the Loretto Academy varsity volleyball team defeated Anthony High School in a match of three sets.

This game concluded the 2018 season and the seniors celebrated their “Senior Night”, their last game as a Loretto Angel athlete.

On Senior Night the girls are given balloons and gifts to make them feel appreciated for all their hard work over the years.

Among the seniors were Yari Castro, Natalia Franco, Lauren Gil, Emma Presley, and Christina Urrea.

The two captains had a particularly hard time saying farewell to their final season.

Christina Urrea, co-captain of varsity volleyball. “It’s sad and happy.”

I never have to workout in 104 degree weather, which is great, but I will also never get to experience another lock-in.”

“Thank you to Ms. Glover, who made volleyball more than just an afternoon pass time”

Fellow captain Lauren Gil said “It was an experience of a lifetime.

Through volleyball I made so many close friends and I learned more about myself.”

I learned that if I push myself to a specific goal I can accomplish anything, whether its winning the last point or running our tournament.”

The 2019 seniors are greatly admired and will be missed very dearly.

Loretto Academy looks forward to watching the girls continue to grow into strong, adult women.

Although the team hates to see them go, all good things must come to an end.
