Madelynne Sandoval, Sports Editor

My name is Madelynne Sandoval, a senior at Loretto Academy and this year I will be working as Sports Editor for The Prax.

I play both varsity basketball and softball, but have always had a love for writing.

Although being an athlete is a big part of me, it is not all that I am.

I believe in the power and voice of the youth and am an activist for social issues such as feminism, mental health awareness, and the rights of immigrants.

I also work closely with the Catholic Church to educate children on the importance of having faith.

In the near future, as I enter college, I plan on furthering my knowledge in journalism and digital media.

My goal for The Prax this year is to spread awareness on some of the hardships athletes experience; including mental health issues such as depression and anxiety disorder.

Topics such as these are ofter disregarded in the media because it is simply seen as unimportant or not valid.

I want to help change that and be a voice for those athletes who struggle with mental health.

I hope to connect with readers and help them become aware of 21st century issues among the youth.

I hope to strengthen my voice and become the best version of myself.
