“The people of El Paso, Texas proudly present the key to the city, to Khalid Donnel Robinson, forever from the city of the 915,”

This quote appears in the opening for Khalid’s new album “Suncity”, one he dedicated to his hometown of El Paso, Texas.

The song begins with a melodic tone and is titled “9.13” as it stands for the date that he received the key to the city.

Khalid, the world renown singer, who gained recognition for his song Location in 2016, released his new album on October 19, 2018.

He dedicates it to his hometown El Paso, Texas, for it is the place he feels most at home, he said.

The contemporary R&B album consists of seven songs that have a soothing contrast to his first album American Teen, where it brings out a feeling of content.

Sofia Alonso, a senior at Loretto Academy said, “He really puts out the struggles us teens go through into perfect words and into beautiful songwriting.”

Grecia Rosales, Loretto senior said, “His music makes me proud to be from El Paso!”

On October 18, 2018, on his post in Instagram, Khalid said, “Out of everything in my life I want to grow, I want my city to grow, I want my music to grow, I want to grow, I want my friends to grow… I’m in the process of growing up.”

Suncity album is out now for download on Apple Music and Spotify, as well as many other music download platforms.
