This year, the Emmys were the first in its history to be without a host, but that’s not all that was unique for the night.

Billy Porter, in the series Pose, was the first openly gay black man to win the Best Actor In A Drama Series award, notes the Los Angeles Times.

Game of Thrones won Best Drama Series, although the winner of the Iron Throne, Issac Hempstead Wright (Bran Stark), did not step on stage with his castmates for unknown reasons, he beamed with pride.

Peter Dinklage, from Game of Thrones, stole Best Supporting Actor In A Drama Series, to add to his victory.

It’s Dinklage’s fourth win in the category, the Los Angeles Times reports.

Black Mirror: Bandersnatch, won Best Television Movie; this interactive winner is on Netflix.

This year’s Emmys was one for the books with letting go of its traditions and being a stage of groundbreaking advancements for the LGBTQ community.
