2019 Golden Globes

 As 2018 ended, 2019 began and alongside it began award season.

    The season began with the 76th annual Golden Globes awards.

     The award were hosted by Sandra Oh and Andy Samberg who began their monologue by dissing the Oscars by mentioning the fact that the Oscars is yet to find a host.

     They joked that they were co-hosting because they were the only two people in Hollywood who had not gotten in trouble for saying something offensive.

     They proceeded to “offend” the audience, when in reality they were complimenting the audience members with taunting voices.

     Their beginning speech was filled with jokes but at the end Sandra Oh ended the monologue with an emotional part of the speech by stating that she was on that stage because she said yes to looking at everyone from the stage.

     She said this is because she wants to look at the faces of differences because she is not sure if next year a face of change will be up on the stage but for then there she was looking at the faces of change.  

     The awards began after with Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper presenting the first award for the best actor for a TV series in a musical or comedy.

     When Samberg presented the two he said, “He discovered Ally and she discovered him in a garage,” which caused a lot of controversy due to the indirect comment on mental illness.

     During the dinner Rami Malek introduced himself to Lady Gaga and the internet instantly came up with memes of the two meeting.

      Carol Burnett won the first ever Carol Burnett Award which was given to her because of her comedic show The Carol Burnett Show.

     Speaking about awards that were created to commemorate talented actresses, the Cecil B. DeMille Award  was awarded to Jeff Bridges.

     The first award show of the season went respectively smoothly and many actresses and Actors won what they deserved.

     There were many things that happened during the Golden Globes which made it a smooth and fun show to watch.
