With the holidays right around the corner, now is the perfect time to learn how to make a new dessert.
Recipe: Grinch Cookies
These Grinch-inspired sugar cookies are perfect for any holiday celebration.
This recipe yields 16 cookies and takes about an hour to make.
Ingredients
You will need the following ingredients to make these cookies: 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour, 1 tsp. baking soda, 1/2 tsp. kosher salt, 1 cup (2 sticks) butter, softened, 1 cup granulated sugar, 1 large egg, 1 tsp. pure vanilla extract, green food coloring, and red heart sprinkles.
Make It Your Own
You can customize these cookies to your exact choice and taste preferences by swapping out the ingredients.
If you’d prefer to use another fat instead of butter, you can try substituting it for ½ of yogurt, nut butter, or oil.
Instead of granulated sugar, you can also use honey or agave nectar.
If you’d like to add any mix-ins to your cookies, you can choose from a variety of options including chocolate chips, nuts, and dried fruits.
Directions
Begin by preheating the oven to 350°F.
Line two baking sheets with parchment paper.
In a large bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, and salt.
In another large bowl, using a hand mixer, beat the butter and sugar together until they reach a creamy consistency.
Then add the egg and vanilla extract and beat them together.
Next, add the dry ingredients to your large bowl and mix until combined. Incorporate green food coloring into your batter until you achieve the desired color.
Then, using a cookie scoop, scoop dough onto the baking sheets.
Place a heart sprinkle in the middle of each cookie.
Next you’re going to place the cookies in the oven and bake for 12 to 14 minutes.
Once the cookies are out, let them cool on the baking sheets.
As soon as the cookies have cooled, they are ready to enjoy!
