On October 24, 2018, there was an annual school wide testing day where all junior classes of high schools participate in taking the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT).

The PSAT is a standardized test given by The College Board in order to test students for their intellect on subjects such as mathematics and reading.

The tests are scored through a range of 160-760 for both sections and could result in a grand score of 1520.

Loretto’s English teacher Mrs. Kimpell and math teacher Mrs. Fernandez provided a PSAT class for the juniors taking place every Saturday morning leading up to the test day, with Mrs. Kimpell in charge of reading tutoring and Mrs. Fernandez in mathematics tutoring.

Meghan Brittain, a junior at Loretto said, “I was really nervous as I prepared for it, but when test time came I felt extremely ready and comfortable taking it.”

Ashley Nicole, a junior, said, “With help from my teachers I was able to go into the test feeling confident.”

The scores for the PSAT will be available in six to eight weeks, approximately by December 10, 2018.
