The lights slowly came on onstage and the curtains slowly slid apart while the music swelled and the actors took their places.

Loretto Academy’s Angels in the Wings performed the Sound of Music on March 30, 31, and April 1 in the Little Theater.

Opening night was packed with students, family members, faculty, and alumni at the theater.

The musical was a great adaptation of the original movie.

Not only were the high school students involved in the play, but also middle and elementary school students.

Though this was their first time performing, especially in front of a large audience, and the kids did really well.

Loretto senior and Angels in the Wings president Elena Alonso said, “I was really impressed.

The play ran pretty smoothly.

If there were any hiccups, the actors and crew could recover quickly.”

The costumes were done extremely well and captured the time and place where the play was taking place.

Loretto senior and head of hair, makeup, and costumes Miranda Moreno said, “The costumes were a success, though it was a real struggle but worth it in the end.”

As an audience member, seeing the whole play being put together in such a small amount of time was incredible.

This time around, the audience was more respectful and kept quiet during the scenes.

Afterward, people were buzzing with what positive feedback they had to say about the play.

The faculty was proud of what the drama club managed to accomplish in such a short amount of time.

I saw very proud family members when the play was over, shining with pride.

I also felt pride because I have friends in the drama club and I know how much effort they put into the musical.

When I talked to them after the play, I could only praise their efforts.

I was impressed with the orchestra and their talents during the musical.

The entire play was three hours long, while the original is almost three hours long.

Though some scenes were cut, that did not interfere with how smoothly the play ran.

I thought that the play was done very well and that the drama club poured everything they could into this musical.

I enjoyed the musical very much, as it was a much-needed distraction from the stresses of school.

During the musical, I felt very surprised and curious about how the drama club would be able to pull everyone together.

Overall, it was a great musical and the Angels in the Wings continue to show their talents and shine in the spotlights.
