A collaboration of Loretto Academy students painted mannequin heads as a gift to women who are fighting cancer.

Women Empowering Women, the National Art Honor Society, and Ms. Crow’s middle school classes came together to make a massive donation to the Rio Grande Cancer Foundation.

Each group painted their share of blank styrofoam mannequin heads, displaying their creativity with bright colors and intricate designs on each mannequin head.

Women suffering from cancer would receive the heads, so they can have somewhere to place their wigs in order to keep them in pristine condition.

The project was a weeks-long affair, with each group meeting at their own separate times to do the project and paint all of the mannequin heads they could.

The Rio Grande Cancer Foundation is the largest of its kind, dedicated to meeting the needs of cancer patients and helping with dealing and coping with cancer.

They support programs within and outside of the organization that work to reach the same goal.

On April 11th, two representatives from the Rio Grande Cancer Foundation came to Loretto Academy in order to pick up all of the heads.

Representatives for each of the contributing groups gathered in Women Empowering Women sponsor Mrs. Ray’s classroom to make the final hand-out.

Cardboard boxes filled with mannequin heads of all colors and designs were given to the representatives to be taken to their future homes.

Loretto Academy students will continue to make contributions to organizations around El Paso and support all women who need it.
