On April 19, 2023, the Senior Alumn Luncheon took place at Coronado Country Club.

This year, for the 100th anniversary of Loretto, Mrs. Katie Martinez and her team of party planners wanted to make everything extra special for the seniors and alumnae.

The event started at 12:30, with a salad as the appetizer, chicken, and puree for the main dish, and a chocolate mousse cake for dessert.

The seniors and alumnae enjoyed their meal and themselves, as they talked about Loretto; how things have changed, how they used to be, and the traditions that will never leave Loretto.

Each alumnae as well as each student was given a name tag with their name and the year they graduated. All guests were seated by year of graduation. Photo courtesy of Mia White.

This year’s keynote speaker was class of 1990 alumnae, Justice Lisa Soto who gave her Loretto sisters important pieces of advice for what the future holds for them.

Loretto senior Miranda Villeda said, “It was a very nice experience to be able to talk to other women who have been to Loretto.

I learned a lot and it was a very special thing to experience the pinning ceremony and getting to talk to my alumni about her experiences at Loretto.”

The pinning ceremony consisted of the alums gifting an angel pin to the students. The students said a vow as their pins were being placed and the ritual symbolized union. Photo courtesy of Miranda Villeda.

The union and spirit of the Loretto sisters showed through when everyone sang the senior cheer, which many alumni were surprised to hear because it evolved into a quicker version since they last sang it.

Many mothers, daughters, aunts, grandmothers, sisters, cousins, teachers, and students gathered together and bonded over what makes Loretto so special.
