Angels make splash at state!

Loretto Academy’s swim team hit the water one final time to close out their season at state.

After winning first place at regionals, the Loretto Angels made their way to San Antonio, Texas, to compete for the state championship.

The girls left for state on Feb. 7 and returned on Feb. 9.

The competition was on Feb.8.

These are the girls who competed and what they swam:

Freshman Maria Goly Enriquez went as an alternate for the 400-yard free relay.

Freshman Aubrey Reha swam the 200-yard free, 500-yard free, and 200-yard free relay.

Sophomore Sofia Landin swam 200-yard, 200-yard free relay, and 100-yard breast.

Sophomore Taisset Quiroz swam the 200-yard medley relay, 50-yard free, 100-yard free, and 400-yard free relay.

Sophomore Perla Saenz swam the 200-yard medley relay, 200 yards, 100-yard fly, and 400-yard free relay.

Junior Isela Iglesias swam 200-yard free relay.

Junior Caroline Machado swam the 200-yard medley relay, 500-yard free, 100-yard back (12th), and 400-yard free relay.

Senior Tenley Reha swam the 200-yard medley relay, 200-yard free, 100-yard back, and 400-yard free relay.

Senior Sofia Ruiz Del Hoyo swam the 200-yard free relay, 100-yard back, and 100-yard breast.

Senior Carolina Wong swam the 100-yard breast.

The Loretto Angels came back with 7th place and a score of 107.

They did an outstanding job going up against eighteen schools in the Josh Davis Natatorium.

The Prax Saff is extremely proud of Loretto’s swimmers.

The girls are going to prepare for another successful season next year!
