Show Choir

Loretto Academy’s show choir is a team that has been around for more than ten years. 

This year, the group consists of eight members who share a love for singing and performing. 

The group practices every day, before and after school, with Mr. Hernandez, the choir director. 

Show choir member and senior Jacqui Velasquez said, “The most challenging part of it is waking up early for practice, but the most rewarding part is finally putting the song together and feeling accomplished as a whole.”

Currently, they are learning new music and putting together a performance for the choir concert on Dec. 6.

Orchesis

Also to celebrate the holiday season, Orchesis has a performance on Dec. 9 at 6 p.m. in Loretto’s gym.

The dance team practices every Monday and Wednesday, after school, from 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.

 At practice, they work on mastering each step and learning new choreography.

Sophomore Kylin Aguirre said, “To prepare for the recital, I go over the dances every single day, especially the parts I have trouble with.”

The team will be performing to Christmas music, as well as to the song “Telephone” by Lady Gaga. 

Orchesis President and senior Caitlin Mijares said, “The piece is very jazzy and upbeat and it was really fun to practice and choreograph.

I think it will definitely be a crowd favorite.”

Through teamwork and dedication, the team has built strong relationships.

Aguirre said, “What I love about Orchesis is the people; I love every single one of the girls and I feel like I can always tell them anything.

For me, they are my sisterhood here at Loretto.”

The Orchesis team continues to work hard throughout each performance to showcase their talent and technique.

All members of the Loretto community are invited to spread holiday cheer and support Loretto’s students by attending these amazing performances.
