The Masters tournament was held from April 7-10, 2022 at the Augusta National Golf Club course in Augusta, Georgia.

This year’s tournament’s top golfers earned more from the purse than last year’s tournament.

During a professional golf tournament, golfers compete for prize money or purses.

The purse for the golf tournament was $11.5 million.

American professional golfer, Scottie Scheffler took first place and is now ranked World Number 1 in the Official World Golf Ranking.

At only 25-years-old, Scheffler took $2.7 million, the highest payout ever, as his first major win, but it’s not his first PGA Tour win.

Scheffler said during the tournament, “I never really thought I was that good at golf, so I just kept practicing and kept working hard, and that’s just what I’m going to keep doing.”

Northern Ireland professional golfer, Rory McIlroy took second place and earned himself $1.62 million.

During his career, he spent over 100 weeks as the world’s number one golfer.

He has won two PGA Championships, one in 2012 and one in 2014.

Irish professional golfer, Shane Lowry, and Australian professional golfer, Cameron Smith tied for third place, both earning $870,000.

The 87th US Masters will be held on April 6-9th, 2023 on Augusta National Golf Club course, in Georgia.
