The El Paso Chihuahuas kicked off their opening night game on April 6 with a score of 13 to 1 to the Round Rock Express baseball team.

At Dell Diamond, the Chihuahuas were able to score six runs in the 5th inning with 11 batters lined up against Round Rock Express.

The 2nd round at Dell Diamond broke the record as the first El Paso team in history to win the first 2 games of the season.

Junior Jayne Nowak said, “I am very proud of our El Paso Chihuahuas and excited to attend one of their games.

They’ve started this season with a bang and I am excited to see where it goes.”

The Chihuahuas were able to scoop up another win on April 8th, having a record of 3-0 so far in the league.

They had their first loss against Round Rock with a score of 11-3, with Gore pitching five shutout innings for the majority of the game.

Back on Tuesday, April 12, the Chihuahuas took on the Oklahoma City Dodgers, winning 13 to 11.

It was the Chihuahuas’ first game at their home field, Southwest University Park.

Aderlin Rodriguez ended the game on the 15th by hitting a home run and advancing three other players to the score.

However, their streak against the Oklahoma City Dodgers ended as they scored only 1 against 5 hits they made.

The series finale ended with the Oklahoma City Dodgers winning against the El Paso Chihuahuas 10 to 1.

Senior Jimena Vega said, “they put up a good fight and will come back stronger next time.

I am excited to see their spring games before I go off to college.”

Opening in Las Vegas last Tuesday, they did not win the first game, but in the third game scored 2 home runs and broke the tie between the Las Vegas Aviators.

The latest game resulted in the loss against the Las Vegas Aviators.

Next, on April 26th-May 1st, the El Paso Chihuahuas will be going against the Reno Aces in a six-game tournament before taking on the Sugar Land Space Cowboys.
