With the presidential elections quickly taking the United States by storm, the students at Loretto Academy are plagued with the decision of who to vote for.

Many seniors and some juniors will be turning 18 before election time approaches, which has left the girls wondering who their candidate might be.

Election day across the U.S. takes place on November 3, 2020 and will decide the fate of the country for the next four years.

The students are looking closely at the candidates’ stances on important issues such as immigration, human rights, and gun control.

A student who chose to remain anonymous said, “I expect my president to be a strong leader who not only cares for himself but for the greater good of the people…I want a president that is involved with any problems we are having.

“I would love it if we got the whole immigration problem fixed because that one is one of the worst ones because people aren’t receiving basic human rights.

“The next problem I would like to see a change in would be gun control.

“I hate seeing and hearing of innocent people dying due to the mistakes of an mentally unstable person.”

Suleth Villeda, junior, said, “I want someone who can choose what’s best for the country even if it is not in favor of himself or the interests of the government.

“Because I live in Mexico and have dual citizenship, I want them [the presidents of both Mexico and America] to have a good relationship and improve the lives of the people on both sides of the border.”

As the elections for U.S. president continue to approach, the students at Loretto will continue to watch the news closely and pick their best candidate.
