Fictional character Leslie Knope created buzz across the United States in 2010 when she invented the holiday “Galentine’s Day” on her famous comedy show Parks and Recreation.

Galentine’s Day is celebrated February 13, the day before Valentine’s, and is about “ladies celebrating ladies”.

It is a day to appreciate the women and friendships in your life.

The unofficial holiday is typically accompanied by food, movies, and of course your best girl friends.

This year, Loretto Academy’s student council gifted the student body with their very own twist on the holiday.

The student body president, vice president, and secretary treated the school with fruit snacks and a card attached saying, “I’m berry glad we’re friends”.

Anna Gonzalez, secretary of student council, said, “ It was a way for us to show our sisters her at Loretto that we love and appreciate them.

We also wanted to show that Valentine’s Day isn’t just about love and relationships but friendships too”

Loretto’s student council always goes above and beyond to make the girls feel loved and special, and we thank them for all of their hard work!
