Many girls play all kinds of sports and dance a variety of styles, however, a Loretto junior does an activity out of the ordinary; barrel racing.

Alexis Diaz has been riding horses her whole life and has been barrel racing for the past two years.

Before barrel racing however, she was what we call “escaramuza” which are riders that perform routines on horses and dress very elegantly.

Diaz has three dear horses named Max, Rapunzel, and Zeuz.

She has trained all three with the help of her coach for barrel racing.

Diaz is currently in a barrel racing team called Sayra’s Team located in the city of Chihuahua.

She trains in Chihuahua in her family ranch.

Alexis Diaz said “I train during school vacations and certain weekends depending on the season.”

During her practices, her group does all types of activities such as pole bending, roping, and exercises.

She participates in exclusively barrel racing competitions and also in rodeos.
