Shutdown update

President Trump announced Friday he has agreed to fund and reopen the government for three weeks, ending the longest shutdown in American history; the government officially reopened Friday night when he signed the bill passed by Congress.

However, hundreds of thousands of federal employees going without pay won’t be paid immediately and many believe there is nothing that can undo the economic damage the country endured during the shutdown.

In order for the government to officially reopen, the president must sign a three-week continuing legislation funding the federal departments; however, it is unclear when he will sign the resolution.

Federal workers should be paid soon, since President Trump has already signed a legislation giving workers who worked without pay their back pay.

People are being warned to prepare for another government shutdown since it is unsure whether or not President Trump is planning another one.
