Loretto Academy has begun their second semester, which means a lot of activities are in store.

The junior class of 2020 has been collecting money into a fund since they started off as freshmen.

The money is collected for one of the biggest events Loretto holds each year: prom.

At Loretto, prom is always organized by the juniors for the senior class as a gift.

This year’s prom committee, which is made by juniors, held their first meeting on January 11, 2019 to discuss and begin organizing for prom.

The prom committee consists of six subcommittees such as tickets, invitations, food, music, decorations, etc.

One-third of the junior class makes up the prom committee that is planning the 2019 junior/senior prom.

The cost of prom is around $8,000 according to the junior head sponsor Mrs. Cortez.

Prom has recently in the past years taken place at the El Paso Country Club but this year’s juniors have changed that.

So far, the prom date has been decided to be on March 2, 2019 at the Epic Railyard Ballroom.

No prom theme has yet been decided.
