Meet Riley Morrison, your typical nine year-old girl basketball player.

As basketball season approached, she was looking to buy some new shoes by her favorite basketball player, Stephen Curry.

As she and her family browsed online to buy some new Stephen Curry shoes, she was disappointed to see the shoes were only available in boy’s sizes.

She decided to go straight to the authorities write a letter to Stephen Curry on her problem.

“I hope you can work with Under Armor to change this because girls want to rock Curry 5’s too.” Riley said her letter to the two-time MVP.

She also wisely mentioned that Curry has two daughters of her own, so why not sell his own shoes for young girls also?

Curry wrote back to her and said,  “Hey Riley, I appreciate your concern and have spent the last 2 days talking to Under Armour about how we can fix this issue.

Unfortunately, we have labeled smaller sizes as ‘boys’ on the website.

We are correcting this now!

I wanted to make sure you can wear my kicks proudly — so I am sending you a pair of Curry 5’s now AND you’ll be one of the first kids to get the Curry 6.

Lastly, we have something special in the works for International Women’s Day on March 8th and I want you to celebrate with me!

More to come on that but plan to be in Oakland that night!

All the best! #RRUINTHEGAME”

He also decided she would be one of the first people to rock the brand new Curry 6’s, which are not available yet.

Curry invited Riley Morris to celebrate with him in Oakland on March 8 for International Women’s Day.

If you check Under Armor’s website, the shoes are certainly now available in all girls’ sizes.

Curry encouraging this girl should be a message to all young female athletes that they are just as important as male athlete.

This is just one small step towards working for equality of women in sports.

Thanks to nine year-old Riley, now young girls can rock Stephen Curry basketball shoes too.
