The swim season began in early September.

The Angels participated in their first meet on October 12, 2018.

It brought joy and excitement to many of the returning team members.

Junior Victoria Dubois said, “I was really excited to start swim for the second year.

Even though I have to wake up early to go to practice, I enjoy every minute of it.”

This year’s team is led by senior captain Sofia Alonso, she was chosen by Coach Wright to be an effective leader for the rest of the team.

Sofia said, “I’m so blessed to be captain for this group of girls, I learn something new from each one of them everyday.

The girls help me become a better leader for them in and out of the pool.”

They have led the team through the Loretto and EPISD invitational swim meets this season, two of the four meets that they have throughout the season.

During the EPISD invitational, the girls placed sixth out of sixteen teams.

As they prepare for state meets, the girls have to change their diets and keep attending practice everyday at 5:30.

Along with their hard work, the teams enjoy their traditional sleepover after their first meet and their annual Christmas dinner.

This hard work and dedication pays off because the team has traveled to San Antonio to compete in regional championships like they have done in previous years that will take place on February of 2019.
