This year, the freshmen’s service learning project involves the elementary school here at Loretto Academy.

The freshmen class was in charge of reading and presenting to the elementary students the meaning of respect, one of the four core values of Loretto Academy.

Freshmen class president Jimena Vega said, “From this project I learned that little kids really look up to us, they actually take our actions and words in mind and it made me feel good because I felt like they could look up to me.”

The entire class went to the elementary school during homeroom hour.

The purpose of this service learning project is to teach elementary children about respect and the freshmen class the effect that they can have on people.

Respect is important because it demonstrates harmony amongst people that are different.
