Every year, seniors get the chance to perform the song “Mary had a Baby,” like previous generations.

Senior class president, Regina Deandar said, “I am actually quite excited that we are singing this song because for years I’ve looked up to the seniors on the theater steps and longed to be there.

Although singing four songs will be a bit tiring, I am more than excited to wear a Christmas hat and have one semester left of school.”

The seniors previously sang “Joy to the World” during their freshman year, “Jingle Bell Rock” during their sophomore year, and “Under the Mistletoe” their junior year.

Singing “Mary had a Baby” has been a Loretto tradition for many years.

The song represents a way out for the seniors that will be making their way into college next spring.

It symbolizes the hope for freedom that will be granted during the Advent season.

The seniors will be able to carry on the beloved tradition of singing “Mary had a Baby” on December 20, 2018.
