Alejandra Chávez, a proud Loretto Academy alumna, has been elected as the El Paso City Council representative for District 1, bringing years of business and community experience to the role.
Chávez was born and raised in El Paso and graduated from Loretto Academy before attending the University of Texas at Austin.
She earned a degree in Corporate Communications with a minor in Business Administration.
She later pursued her passion for food by studying at the Italian Culinary Institute for Foreigners (ICIF) in Costigliole d’Asti, Italy, which helped shape her career in the restaurant industry.
In 2003, she returned to El Paso and opened a catering company and restaurant, Thyme Restaurant, which she successfully ran for 20 years.
Her business leadership earned her the Small Business Administration (SBA) Women in Business Champion of the Year Award in 2022, highlighting her impact on the local economy.
In an interview with El Paso Times, Chávez said, “I believe leadership isn’t just about making decisions or giving commands, but about setting a culture driven by core values where everyone aligns to achieve a shared mission.”
Chávez has been actively involved in the community by supporting organizations such as the El Paso Symphony Orchestra, El Paso Children’s Hospital, and the Amigo Kidney Foundation.
She is also a proud wife and mother of three children who attend schools in the El Paso Independent School District, deepening her connection to the city.
As the elected District 1 representative, she is focused on economic development, improving city services, and making sure tax dollars are spent wisely.
She believes in open communication with residents and wants every voice in District 1 to be heard when making decisions.
Her goal is to create a safe, thriving, and welcoming El Paso community where every family has the opportunity to succeed.
With her background in business, passion for community service, and commitment to her hometown, Chávez hopes to bring positive change to the city she has always called home
