Juniors take a vow of silence
November 15, 2018
Each year, Loretto Academy honors the day of September 11th in an act of remembrance to the victims killed during the New York 9/11 terrorism attack.
On September 11th, 2001, three planes were hijacked by Jihadi terrorists, two of which intentionally crashed into the Pentagon and the Twin Towers.
This event continues to be the greatest act of terror this country has ever encountered.
It is on this day that the juniors of Loretto Academy take a “vow of silence” for the entire school day.
The juniors wear specially designed t-shirts for the duration of the event.
In addition, out of respect for those lost in the terrorist attack, the juniors vow not to speak for the entire school day.
They may use white boards, notes and even sign language to convey their thoughts and feelings.
Brianna Delgado, a junior at Loretto academy, said “I feel that the junior’s vow of silence is a way to show respect for our country…and to be united as a country.”
The junior vow of silence is an event juniors look forward to every year as a way to show respect for those who lost their lives during the terrorist attack.
