The annual WISE festival was on February 12, 2025, a rather new tradition at Loretto, WISE day is a day to celebrate and showcase women in STEM.

WISE Day is anticipated by students throughout the year to showcase their hard work in a series of experiments ranging from different STEM fields.

Loretto Academy students as a group choose a topic that excites them and use their own creative abilities to show their findings.

Ana Delgado, a Loretto senior said, “WISE is stressful but worth it and so interesting.” 

Mr. Nieto, one of the head directors that makes WISE day possible, said, “ Wise is important to our school because it exposes students to pathways in science, engineering and other fields of STEM, and helps them look forward to arrears in other fields they haven’t really thought of yet.”

This year WISE had an all woman panel, containing four local female scientist including Loretto Academy’s Ms. Salcido who presented on their journey and passion in STEM fields

Senior and National Science Honor Society co-president Mia Moreno, said, “I like wise because I like learning something new and having discussions about it with other people.” 

STEM fields are male dominated and Loretto Academy, being an all girl school, prioritizes the ability to change that, and encourages students to explore STEM fields and possibly spark an interest in the world of STEM through WISE.
