Games have grown tough as the UTEP Women’s Volleyball Team make it to the National Collegiate Association (NCAA) this 2024 season for the first time in world history.
The National Collegiate Association was formed in 1906, in the United States, that directs intercollegiate athletics in division 1 schools.
UTEP (27-5) earned their first NCAA Tournament offer in program history after being selected from the 64-team field for a chance to play in the 2024 NCAA division 1 women’s volleyball championship.
UTEP Miners were set to face Oklahoma Sooners in the tournament’s first round in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania on December 6th, 2024
Coach Ben Wallis, UTEP women’s volleyball coach said, “This team was chosen for a reason, and we’re going to take that chip on our shoulder to Pittsburgh and give it everything we’ve got.”
Conference USA
Kaya Weaver, the middle blocker on the team, has been leading the team with 143 total blocks which has awarded her the Conference USA(CUSA) defensive player of the year.
She is the first player from UTEP to receive a Conference USA superlative honor which demonstrates her talent and dedication towards the sport.
UTEP vs. Oklahoma
UTEP had a strong start the first two sets against Oklahoma until Oklahoma performed a grand comeback winning the next three sets resulting in a victory of 3-2.
The UTEP women’s volleyball team will continue growing this off season building off the strong team that has propelled them to the NCAA’s.
UTEP has made history by making it to the NCAA tournament for the first time representing their school and erecting new goals for upcoming seasons.
