The annual performance of the Orchesis dance team is always highly anticipated, and this year’s very last show took place on December 6, 2024.
The team, along with the aerobics class, were able to showcase their perfected choreography throughout the night in the form of a variety of styles of dance.
Starting the night off, the team performed a traditional folklórico dance called, “La Bruja,” where every girl had to be wary of the lit candle on their head.
They segwayed into the heart-pumping rhythmic dance to the song, “It’s Ok, I’m Ok,” performed by Mrs. Cortez’s aerobics class.
The purple, sparkly costumes elevated the quality of their routine, matched by their incredible skills after just one semester of practice.
Next, was the eerie halloween special given by Orchesis, to the song, “Once Upon a Dream,” that left the audience on the edge of their seats by the end of their showcase.
Ana Camilla Ramirez Saenz, a talented sophomore, gave the dancers a bit of a break as she wowed the spectators with her impeccable talent on the cello.
“The Way I Are,” was empowerment in the form of a dance, choreographed by Kylin Aguirre, Ale Chew-Oaxaca, and Monique Duran.
The audience could tell the night’s show was transformed into a Christmas special by the change in atmosphere and costume.
“Rocking Around the Christmas Tree,” and “Jingle Bell Rock,” both put everyone in the Christmas spirit, and the performer’s gave the crowd nothing but pure excitement for the holiday season.
A short intermission was given by special guests, Sebastian and Clara Ramirez, singing, “It’s Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas,” giving the dancers a chance to prepare themselves for their last song.
The “Carol of the Bells,” dance is the traditional performance done every year by the dance team and is a highly anticipated part of every Christmas concert.
It was beautifully choreographed and was a perfect way to end the night and Ochesis’ 2024 season.
