The Angels in the Wings Theater Company opened its doors for the fall production of Play On! which was showcased on October 24, 25, and 26th, 2024.
The production came full circle for Theater Director Mrs. Cortez as well as first-time Theater Director Ms. Molina, a ‘21 alumni from Loretto Academy.
Interested students from Loretto Academy High School, Cathedral High School, and St. Joseph’s Middle School came to audition for the play and fill in the cast and crew’s shoes.
The play follows a director, cast, and crew as they try to make their play within the show’s production.
Mrs. Cortez said, “I am very happy with the outcome of the play; we worked for about seven weeks to put this on from audition to the end.
There were some times when people didn’t know their lines or were missing and costumes weren’t correct—all those things you saw in the play happened in real life.
So, I am very happy with how everyone pulled together and the chemistry of the actors was apparent.
I think that is what helped make it such a success.”
Isabella Labrado, a junior from Loretto Academy and an actress in the play, said, “My favorite part of opening night was how we all got through it together with minimum mistakes.”
Grace Tolentino, a senior from Loretto Academy and a backstage cast member said, “Something I like about working backstage is ever since I was a freshman, I would always be back there watching the actors and they would not get it.
Eventually, they would get into their characters and bring the story to life.”
Sebastian Ramirez, a middle schooler from St. Joseph’s and male actor, said, “For opening night, honestly, I was not that nervous because I had my friends and my sister and it went smoothly.
I think even for the other two nights I will still be very calm.”
