Once a month a student-athlete is recognized for their hard work and dedication both on and off the field at Loretto Academy.
The first time Zara visited Topgolf, she fell in love with the game and she’s been playing golf ever since.
Zara has earned the position of “Athlete of the Month” due to her hard work and enthusiasm towards her sport.
In September 2024, Zara Alvidrez, a current freshman at Loretto Academy, was elected as the Golf team captain.
Zara’s dedication and commitment to her sport earned her the title of captain.
She attended First Tee, an organization that introduces young children to golf, where she expanded her knowledge of the sport and refined various techniques.
Zara said, “ I plan to continue playing golf and I want to go to college with it because golf is my passion and I love it.”
Zara and her teammates provide a supportive environment, inspiring one another to do their best.
The golf team hopes to make it to State this year.
A challenge Zara has encountered in previous tournaments has been competing with different schools that have more experienced golfers.
Zara said, “Our team has done really well and we are proud; the team won the last two JV tournaments and I placed second in my last two tournaments, and I received medals for it”.
Student-athletes who dedicate themselves everyday to excel in their sport are worthy of recognition as they build school spirit and inspire others as positive role models.
At Loretto, the long-standing tradition of honoring a student-athlete each month has been upheld for many years and remains a cherished part of the community.
