The Movie on the Lawn embraces the Loretto Academy community to come together all while bonding over a movie.
On October 10, 2024 at 7pm technical malfunctions occurred which delayed the viewing time to 7:40pm.
Poltergeist was shown which was made in 1982.
Poltergeist is about a family that is living on top of an old cemetery, this causes ghosts to take control of the house and pulls the young daughter on television into an alternate world.
This year many of the girls went to the viewing with friends or by themselves.
Senior Erin Villanueva said, “I felt that the movie on the lawn gave the Loretto students and staff a sense of community.”
The president of the film club, junior Juliana Puentes said, “It seemed like people were having a good time whether they were actually watching the movie, eating, or spending time with their friends; for me that’s really what it was about, a sense of community.”
On the subject of what can be improved for next year Puentes said “Since we got teachers to offer extra credit, I want to collaborate across all grades, not just seniors and freshman.”
Many of the girls can’t wait for the next movie on the lawn since it brought a lot of the student body closer together which we can later look upon as a bonding experience.
