I’ve had the privilege of writing several words, grafs, headlines, characters, and stories featured in The Prax, but these, in particular, make up the perfect conclusion to my journey.
At the beginning of the “Prax” school year, I was assigned the position of Loretto News Editor.
There is a lot of components that come with this position, however the main task I’ve been challenged with is maintaining and preserving the heart of Loretto News, even if I am writing/editing for other sections.
Without even realizing it, however, this position and my time in The Prax have allowed me to explore more facets of Loretto that I was not previously exposed to.
My love for Loretto and all its elements has grown tremendously, as well as my love for writing.
Writing has always been at the forefront of my studies, not just because of the material, but because of the passion.
Before this year, I was not well-versed in the department of writing that is journalism, and I had no foundation for the style.
However, as a member of The Prax staff, Mrs. Lockhart-Walker as well as the course have provided me with exposure that allowed me to extend my writing hand beyond my bubble.
Meeting deadlines was not always easy, but the work we have put in has paid off, as we will always have something to look back on through our contributions.
I want to thank Mia, Mara, Maria, Marina, Emily, and Paulina for being such amazing people to work and create issues with.
But above all, I want to thank Mrs. Lockhart-Walker for being our journalistic mentor.
She brought light to us in the realm of news, so that we could all go out and do the same.
I dedicate this feature as well as all other features to her.
Lastly, if it hasn’t already been expressed, I want to make it known that I love The Prax, and even though I will no longer be a writer for it, it’ll always have my heart.
Goodbye, Prax.
