As the sports season ends, there is a mix of emotions in the air.
It’s hard to believe that another year has flown by, and it’s time to say goodbye to our seniors.
Let’s not forget this sports season’s achievements and show our angel pride!
Tennis
The Loretto tennis team has successfully ended the 2023-2024 season.
On April 15, 2024, Junior Cianna Chavez and Senior Emma Issac represented Loretto Academy in the TAPPS State Championship in Waco, Texas.
They played doubles and placed 8th overall.
Issac said, “I’ve always enjoyed playing with Cianna but this year was extra special because it was my last year in Loretto.
I wanted to enjoy it and have fun, and I am really happy with our results.”
Track and Field
The track and field season ended in April with a record of 30 girls on the team.
Twelve girls competed in regionals accompanied by the team manager, Freshman Camila Otero, and three coaches.
Junior Melania Martinez represented Loretto Academy in the TAPPS State Championship in Waco, Texas, for triple jump.
Martinez, who placed 8th overall said, “My experience at state was awesome. It was so enlightening and definitely a learning experience. As my first time at state it was definitely exciting and I can’t wait to go back next year. “
She also plans on training for the upcoming track season to hopefully qualify for state again, Martinez said “ For next year’s track season I plan to take my training seriously in the off season by doing runs twice every week and doing things like the jump rope to keep up my plyometrics.”
From The Prax we congratulate her and all of the track team for all of the accomplishments they had this year!
Softball
Loretto’s softball team had a fun environment when all the girls were excited and eager to learn the sport.
The last softball team Loretto has had was back in 2021, having this sport back is something new and exciting for the school.
The teams last game was on April 19 and the field was decorated with balloons and posters for the teams senior night.
We look forward to seeing what the team brings next year!
