My name is Marina Cepeda, I am a senior at Loretto and the 2023-2024 Sports Editor of The Prax.
Three years ago, in 2021, I entered Loretto Academy as a sophomore, without knowing the impact this decision would have on my life.
I remember the first day of school, crying all the way home, and feeling unsure about the decision I had made.
I felt out of place and was insecure about how well I was going to be able to perform in this school.
Fast forward to the present, I am emotional as I leave high school full of beautiful memories and everlasting relationships.
I am proud of myself for having accepted all the challenges that Loretto posed for me and of how much I have grown as a person.
Thinking about everyone I have met and the opportunities I have had, I find myself feeling nostalgic and bittersweet, I don’t want to leave.
A second home
For the past year, The Prax has been my second home, a place where I’ve grown as a writer and individual.
As I bid farewell to this incredible experience, I can’t help but reflect on the unforgettable experiences and friendships that have shaped my journey.
If I had been told three years ago that I would be part of The Prax staff my senior year, I wouldn’t have believed it.
I am extremely grateful to Mrs. Lockhart, whose guidance has shaped my entire understanding of writing.
Without her support and the support from the staff I would not have been able to reach my goals.
Writing for The Prax and being the Sports Section Editor has truly broadened my view of writing and the world.
This class has taught me to use my voice to stand up for what is right and help others.
Overall, I am excited for what is to come, but sad that it is all over.
After graduation, I will be attending the University of Texas at Austin, and will be majoring in Marketing.
Thank you Loretto for making my high school experience hard to say goodbye to.
