Following one of the most expected traditions for Loretto Academy’s seniors, the class of 2024 prepared to receive the sun and the school in a unique way.
Even though most seniors have been watching sunrises together, in their cars, on the international bridge everyday for the past three years, this one was special.
With spring coming, the sunrise comes earlier in the day, but in winter time, the very responsible class of 2024 was constantly seen at school even before the sun rose.
At 5:30 am cars started to light up the back parking lot at Loretto Academy.
With different pastries and many, many cups of coffee, at 6:08 am on May 17 the class of 2024 watched the sunrise together.
On the Loretto’s soccer field, the soon to be alumni layed on the grass, wrapped on blankets hugging each other, keeping the warm feeling inside the sisterhood.
When the sun rose, the senior class began a day of fun and jokes on the school that was to be memorable and bonding for not only the class, but students across the board.
Prank Day
The night before, seniors prepared for Senior Prank Day by stacking cups, unraveling caution tape, pasting sticky notes, and overall bringing out more nonsensical items creating more chaos across campus for the surprise.
The result was that students and faculty were left with complicated hallway, locker room, and entrance to figure out to navigate, that gave the first reaction of the day.
In addition to this random morning, Mr. Silva paid students a visit and spoke dring announcements in the customary way he used to, creating a wholesome moment for Loretto.
To follow this portion of the prank several hours later, seniors invited a couple of surprises to the campus during lunch time, including food trucks (Kona Ice and Classico) and Cathedral boys.
Many thought the prank was over at that point, but there was one last surprise in the works for prank day.
To finish off the day, seniors brought in a couple of DJs to assess a locker room club room during the last period.
Together, the senior sunrise and prank showcased tradition, and how sisterhood can play out in the most special and silly of ways.
