Leap day is an unusual date that only comes around every four years, taking place on February 29, and of course, Loretto Academy took advantage of this special day to have a day filled with unusual and fun activities.
The day at Loretto began with teachers swapping jobs and teaching in other classrooms and students swapping their backpacks for strange objects brought from home.
Mr. Sanchez, Loretto’s physics teacher, spent his morning teaching French, and Mr. Causey, Loretto’s social studies teacher, spent the morning discussing news with the journalism class.
During homeroom, students had the opportunity to bond with other grade levels by participating in a fun activity.
Students were assigned a different homeroom where they were provided with materials, such as cornstarch and balloons, to create their very own stress balls.
Having students from different grade levels come together to enjoy this activity allowed students to bond with other girls they had never talked to before.
Isabella Hallal, a junior from Loretto, said: “I loved this activity because I was able to talk to girls that I had honestly never interacted with or even seen in my life.
The activities were all very fun and I think writing about a woman that inspires us was very wholesome.”
Each homeroom chose the students with the most unique backpacks, who were then given a prize.
To finalize this activity, all homerooms were released to the front of the school to participate in a scavenger hunt.
Hidden eggs with small frog figurines, some of them had little crowns, and candy was hidden all over the grass.
This fun activity helped students bond with each other in a way as unique and unusual as Leap Day.
