Throughout the winter season, there are two events that get Loretto Academy student’s attention: the Orchesis Winter Show and Jingle Mingle.
Orchesis Winter Show
Orchesis put on their annual winter show on December 8th for their classmates and their guests.
Although the show was grand, it was bittersweet for many, including Orchesis’s Vice President, senior Leila Morales.
Morales said, “It felt surreal performing in my last winter performance.
I would’ve never thought that it would come so fast, but I loved every moment of it!
It has been such an amazing experience and I’m so thankful for Mrs. Cortez and the rest of the girls for making this such an amazing last year.”
Jingle Mingle
Loretto’s annual Jingle mingle celebration took place on December 9, 2023, where the different student clubs were able to sell different items in order to raise money for their club.
Freshman, Claire Brown said, “I really enjoyed seeing what the clubs had come up with to try and raise money for themselves.
I love that I can buy anything from books to cookies here.”
Handmade items, food, and fun activities were all things that could be purchased using the jingle mingle tickets.
The Luisas de Marillac club did a collaborative sale with Tea Shop, a coffee shop in Juarez, and they sold handmade candles and wafers from Tea Shop.
Loretto Athletic Association (LAA) sold coloring activities for kids so they could sit at their booth and have fun while coloring, and conducted a giveaway for a basket filled with goodies.
Aside from the booths at the gym, the cafeteria was also filled with booths where food and items could be purchased; you could even take pictures with Santa as he was walking all around both the gym and the cafeteria.
The guitar class also had a special performance at the gym’s stage, where they sang some classical Christmas Carols.
Jingle Mingle is always an amazing event as talent and dedication really shine through each of the booths.
As winter passes through Loretto, students hold out their passions for the whole community to see, whether it be dancing or participating with clubs, which creates a rich environment.
