New beginnings
At the start of the 2002 school year, Loretto welcomed its newest athletic director, Angela Glover.
As a former Loretto parent, she knew much about the school’s traditions and how their sports programs were managed.
She was recommended by her friend and the school’s previous athletic director, Gerrianne Lockhart-Walker.
As Ms. Glover recounts her experiences and memories here at Loretto, she has nothing but positive remarks.
Ms. Glover said, “ From working at Loretto for 22 years, I was able to make great connections with the girls.
I also saw how all the girls here at Loretto are not just any ordinary teens, but good kids with high aspirations.”
Student involvement
Although Ms. Glover always had a busy schedule, she always made sure she had time for the girls.
Ms. Glover sponsored the Loretto Athletic Association (LAA) where she planned track meets, organized swim meets, and held countless sports banquets.
Co-President of LAA and Loretto senior, Bella Candia, said, “ Ms Glover welcomed me from the moment I walked in to try out for volleyball.
She pushed me when I struggled and wanted to give up and always cheered me on.
She helped me become a better teammate and helped me enjoy practices and the games.”
Changing the environment
Oftentimes at Loretto it feels the athletes are not given the recognition they deserve.
In other words, other schools are quick to overlook the Angels and see Loretto as an “easy win.”
Ms. Glover made sure this rumor was put to an end.
Ms. Glover said, “ Oftentimes other schools didn’t see us as much competition.
But as I continued working at Loretto, I began to see more and more schools wanting to start playing our athletes.
They wanted to play us because of how determined our girls are and because other coaches saw how the girls all have that desire to be the best athletes they are capable of being.”
Forever thankful
Ms. Glover dedicated 22 years of her life to Loretto Academy’s sports program.
She put the needs of the athletes first and always made sure to attend as many events as possible.
All of the students and administration will truly miss Ms. Glover’s presence on campus and wish her nothing but the best.
On behalf of The Prax we thank Ms. Glover for all of the amazing work she has conducted at Loretto.
Once an Angel is always an Angel!
