Loretto, a century in the making, an impact that is ground-breaking.
Loretto Academy has been home to many Sisters, teachers, faculty, and thousands of students over the course of 100 years.
In 1923, Loretto’s wings were extended to 186 students who enrolled after holding its first classes, on the corner of Hardaway and Trowbridge, in 1922.
As years have gone by, alumnae and those with other affiliations to Loretto have paid homage to the school’s “Tradition of Excellence” and celebrated its 100-year milestone.
Loretto’s Director of Strategic Initiatives and Advancement, Rose Lucero, said, “Loretto is an icon in both the Catholic community and the El Paso/Juarez region.
This doesn’t happen by accident; it happens on purpose.
Its success lies in the foundation provided by the Sisters of Loretto, setting the tone for the development of community leaders.
Loretto alumnae all over the world are making an impact.
The future of anything starts with a vision, just as Mother Praxedes had for Loretto, 100 years ago.
I believe that the current leadership of Loretto under the Presidency of Nicole Cobb has a lot of promise.
Her vision of making the Academy better for all grade levels with better facilities and enhanced educational opportunities is inspiring.
Her love for Loretto is evident and I’m honored to be part of her team.”
As presented by this testimony, Loretto’s prestige is one that stands out amongst other schools.
Loretto was built on a foundation of “opened wings,” and those wings only grow stronger as the years fly by.
